Congressman Bridenstine to Participate in F-35 Cockpit Demonstrator Event

Tulsa, Oklahoma, August 21, 2013 –

Congressman Jim Bridenstine (R-OK-1), Member of the House Armed Services Committee, will attend an event with Lockheed Martin’s [NYSE: LMT] F-35 Lightning II interactive cockpit demonstrator on Monday, August 26 at Ducommun LaBarge Technologies in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Congressman Bridenstine will speak with reporters, employees, state and local elected officials and other stakeholders and will have the opportunity to “fly” the cockpit demonstrator.  During the event, Lockheed Martin and Ducommun officials will highlight the F-35’s role in protecting national security and the program’s economic impact across the U.S. and within Oklahoma. 

Ducommun Incorporated [NYSE: DCO] manufactures sophisticated electronics used in the radar and flight control systems of the F-35 at its Tulsa facility.The F-35 cockpit demonstrator simulates the fighter aircraft’s advanced technologies and combat capabilities in an interactive environment. Reporters are invited to “fly” the demonstrator and experience how advanced stealth, fighter agility and integrated operations make the F-35 the most capable multirole fighter in the world.  

Lockheed Martin and Ducommun officials will be available for one-on-one interviews.

Note: The demonstrator is visually and audibly interactive. Reporters will have unlimited close-up access to film or photograph “pilots” in the cockpit while “flying” a variety of mission scenarios.

bridenstine200300About Congressman Jim Bridenstine: Jim Bridenstine was elected to Congress in 2012 representing Oklahoma’s 1st District.  After completing a triple major at Rice University, Jim became a pilot in the US Navy.  He flew the E-2C Hawkeye in combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, then transitioned to the F-18 Hornet and flew at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, the parent command to TOPGUN, achieving 1,900 flight hours and 333 carrier arrested landings.  Following nine years of active duty, Bridenstine obtained an MBA at Cornell University.  

He is currently a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve where he flew the E-2C Hawkeye in America's war on drugs before becoming a member of Congress. Bridenstine serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Science, Space and Technology Committee.
