The Open Government Project – Reprint

Open Government ProjectPorter Davis says: “The grassroots organizations fighting against Common Core, Obamacare, for medical cannabis, against REAL ID, and much more are spending their time begging GOP committee chairmen to hear their bills. These guys have dictatorial power NOT to hear bills, totally undercutting the concept of Representative Government. That is shameful for any Republican. We discussed this Tuesday night in OK County in the context of the corruption that found 14 GOP Senators voting to disenfranchise Oklahomans of the voice in Presidential primaries. So we discussed this resolution and basically accepted it, pending final wording.

Here is the text of the resolution submitted to the OK County GOP ExecComm on Open Government. It has been submitted for electronic vote, with Friday, 5pm deadline. It is not official yet. I encourage everyone to adopt it at your counties and send on the the legislators. They should NOT take us for granted any longer.”

Resolution by the Oklahoma County Republican Party

The Oklahoma County Republican Party resolves:

To preserve and protect Representative Government in Oklahoma;

So that the People’s voice may be heard and the actions and philosophies of our legislators known;

We call on all elected State Representatives and State Senators,

To immediately stop thwarting the legislative process by refusing to give a committee hearing and a recorded vote to any bills their author(s) want heard.

Stated positively, we resolve that any bills their author wants heard should have a committee hearing and a recorded vote.

This shall be known as the Open Government Resolution.
