Congressman Jim Bridenstine Votes to Remove Barriers to Petroleum Industry Growth

jimbridenstine 1000xCongressman Jim Bridenstine applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for passing three bills this week moving toward a comprehensive energy strategy. “I supported all three bills.  Much of the language is identical to my comprehensive energy legislation introduced in March, the American Energy Renaissance Act.”

This week’s legislation reduces burdensome and unnecessary regulations on the oil and natural gas industry:

·  The Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act (HR 6) expedites the approval of natural gas export applications.

·  The North American Energy Infrastructure Act (HR 3301) advances approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline by eliminating the presidential approval requirement for pipelines and electric transmission lines crossing U.S. borders and the requirement that the Department of Energy approve natural gas imports and exports to and from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

·  The third bill (HR 4899) expands lease sales on the Outer Continental Shelf, streamlines permitting requirements for energy projects on federal lands, and ensures that the National Petroleum Reserve – Alaska continues to be utilized to the fullest extent possible.

Bridenstine said: “Despite the efforts of the Obama Administration, the petroleum industry is the strongest sector of the U.S. economy.  This week’s bills remove government barriers to a free market.  Revitalizing the American energy industry will not only create jobs and economic growth, but also enhance our national security.  Energy development unshackles the U.S. from less-than-friendly Middle Eastern producers while better positioning us to counter threats of aggression toward our allies.

“Energy security and expansion is vitally important to our country, and I will continue to fight for policies that promote an ‘all of the above’ approach.”
