Today Congress is voting on extending the Patriot Act. When this passed after 9/11 many of us were concerned about giving this much power to the Federal Government, but at that moment we had just been attacked and Bush was President so many of us went along with it, because it wasn’t supposed to be permanent. We knew if another Clinton got elected, Congress would end it by not renewing it.

There are 3 government elections in all 23 precincts in Washington County on February 8. Three school districts have school board elections: Copan, Skiatook and Tri-County Technology Center. Please open the attached file called “Washington County”; it is the summary of the candidates in these elections. The summary includes the name of each candidate, the office they are running for, their phone number and e-mail address (if they have an e-mail address). Oklahoma Grassroots Presents Resolutions to be Considered for Introduction at Precinct Meetings 2011

We will have an opportunity to impact the precinct meetings occurring all over the state in late January / early February with the stated Republican party date being February 1st. Many have complained about parties, but the only way to impact them is by participating. Can it truly be said that large numbers of people of principle have participated over a sustained period, starting at the precinct level? You have to attend to participate, or at least that is the best way to do so!
