The high-priority legislation, HB2818, known as the Personal Property Protection Act, seeks to broaden the scope of the castle doctrine, extending its protections beyond the confines of one’s home to encompass the entirety of one’s property.
This bill empowers individuals to defend their property, whether armed or unarmed, thereby providing a level of protection that was previously unavailable. It is crucial to advocate for this bill by reaching out to the following senators, urging them to bring HB2818 to the Senate floor for discussion this week:
Senate Pro Tempore Lonnie Paxton at 405-521-5771
Floor Leader Senator Daniels at 405-521-5634.
Additionally, it is important to encourage the listed representatives to support HB2818 by becoming co-authors of the bill.
There are currently three co-author positions from Washington County that remain unfilled. The representatives to contact include
Rep. Judd Strom at 405-557-7402
Rep. John Kane at 405-557-7358
Senator Julie Daniels at 405-521-5634.
