In an era where many in the Church says to not be involved in politics, Charlie ran right into the fray, quoting Jeremiah 29:7, “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
Charlie believed the Bible so strongly that it impacted every area of his life. His marriage to Erika was testament to the world of the enduring value of marriage. His discipline, his calling men to stand up and have integrity, his love of children, his defense of Christianity, the list goes on.
I met Charlie briefly at NRB in 2021, after starting to listen to his show. Prior to finding the Charlie Kirk show, I felt the need for a grounded, bold conservative leader, and Charlie became that – speaking out on almost every issue – with bold, concise, and grounded perspective.
Charlie listened to the people – the grassroots. Charlie was one of the only people who truly gave us a voice. And he never faltered from speaking that.
I know I speak for myself and many in my generation when I say that Charlie’s assassination hit me harder than almost anything. Charlie never gave up, and he encouraged a generation of us to fight for what we believed in. Charlie was a ballast in this tumultuous culture. He believed America was worth saving. He told us to not lose hope. And he said that if we kept standing up, we would win. He willed a generational movement into existence, and arguably saved our country by doing so.
And then…the revival of Christian family values. His “Send Me” speech from 2023 is one of the most powerful messages I’ve heard. His bold proclamation of the Biblical family, how Christians should be in politics, and calling men to live boldly for Christ stirred me. In a world where most of our churches won’t apply the Bible to our lives, Charlie did. To be honest, I loved Charlie’s work, but I never thought he could ACTUALLY change the youth. And then, he did. I never saw the revival coming, but it’s here.
The memorial on Sunday was a powerful testament to the impact of Charlie, and the craving of this generation for the hope of Christ.
Will we all miss Charlie? Yes. But it is for us, to continue his tireless work. To never quit standing for what we believe in. To speak truth in a secular culture. To continue to run into the halls of government and fight for liberty and truth.
Charlie’s organization, TPUSA, is continuing his work and his college tour. See details here:
