Members of the State Committee,

Yesterday, you received an email from our chairman objecting to a legitimate “call” for the OKGOP State Committee meeting to be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

I would like to bring your attention to the OKGOP Rule regarding my ability to schedule this meeting.

OKGOP Rule gives three scenarios on when a vice chairman or chairman can call a meeting independent of the other officer.

1. If the other office is “vacant”
2. If the other officer is “unavailable”
3. If said officers “cannot agree”

Chairman Nathan Dahm cancelled the previously announced meeting date of January 13th, without reaching out to me to discuss or work towards a solution. I was not in agreement with this decision, but I was not asked.

After giving the Chairman the full allotment of time to call the meeting, there was still no meeting called. The counties know it is their responsibility to meet as a state committee and requested that I call the meeting.

I called 60 venues to find a location for our meeting, and within two hours of booking a venue for the 27th, I sent the call to Nathan asking him to sign as a joint call on January 16th.

Please note the rule above – “unavailable” or “cannot agree.” These phrases are used to give the ability to do party business even if the Chairman is not available, and the Vice Chairman is given the ability to call a meeting if those scenarios apply.

Having received no response, it was apparent that the Chairman was “unavailable” (I later learned that he was in Iowa with the primary), and so I called the meeting 10 days out per the OKGOP Rules.

The rule goes on to state that, “If both should issue such a call, the first issued shall be the legal call.” The call I made on January 17th was legal and properly called. I have asked Nathan to preside at the meeting. If he does not, the meeting will be conducted per the rules, allowing the State Committee, which is the Supreme Authority of our party, to do business.

It is my sincere desire to work with Chairman Dahm.  However, my allegiance is to the real strength of this Party which is its people.  I will again extend an invitation to Chairman Dahm to join us on Saturday and chair this meeting.  The meeting WILL occur and is in compliance with the OKGOP rules and has been requested by the people.  It is our desire to get the work of the people done, to strengthen our state and to see the “R” in “Republican” mean something.

At Saturday’s meeting, members of the State Committee are excited to bring a resolution to endorse Trump for the Republican nomination for President.  There is important business before the State Committee. I look forward to seeing all of you on Saturday!

In Liberty,

Wayne Hill
Vice Chair OKGOP
