On September 2, 2025, State Representative Jim Shaw announced the launch of the Save Oklahoma Plan. It is a seven point plan with most of the conservative, grassroots organizations in the state signed onto the plan. OKGrassroots is pleased to be a part of this effort. We will be working with Representative Shaw as the plan rolls out and on future bills drafted to support the plan to be sure we remain both grassroots and constitutional!

There is one item of concern on this list (e-verify) for several of us and we are working with Representative Shaw to be sure this concern is addressed as we move forward:

“One of the 7 positions being pushed that sent chills up and down my spine is E-Verify.  E-Verify while being promoted in the guise of border security has major civil liberty and constitution violation concerns.   E-Verify will dictate to employers how to run their businesses while infringing on inalienable rights of employees enshrined in the 4th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, also potentially setting up a national data base for government to track and control people.   Conservative or Libertarian Grassroot individuals with concerns of severe privacy and civil liberty violations cannot and will not support E-Verify and if they were to run for office in Oklahoma will be opposed by basically every Oklahoma grassroots organization.

I plead with Representative Shaw and all these grassroot organizations to STOP and not go down this path!“

I believe the problem of illegals in the state is so bad that we must do something like e-verify to solve the problem, but as with flock cameras, the devil is in the details and we must protect people’s constitutional rights while attempting to solve the problems we face. I do not believe we can mandate this to businesses across the state or punish candidates who refuse to sign on to this item. That said, we are better when we work together where we can do so.

We will also continue to evaluate all candidates against the Republican Party Platform and share our findings online. We do not often endorse, but we do publish information to the best of our ability.

Discussion of the constitutionality of e-verify led to Jim Shaw providing this court case:
