The Oklahoma Liberty Coalition – Transparency and Accountability in the State Legislature – empowering the People

www.oklahoma.statelens.org

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma Liberty Coalition, (OLC) has officially launched a new public transparency platform, Oklahoma State Lens, designed to help everyday Oklahomans track legislation, understand policy impacts, and see how lawmakers vote – without media filters or lobbyist influence.  Oklahoma Liberty Coalition is a growing collaboration of about twenty liberty organizations, (partners) from across the state. Their mission is to empower you, the voter, with information needed to make informed decisions in voting and to be active, informed voters on issues that affect you.

As the Oklahoma Legislature creates laws and policies that impact our daily lives, there is one website, the Oklahoma StateLens that cuts through the noise.  Unlike traditional political coverage or scorecard sites, Oklahoma StateLens does not promote endorsements or tell users what to believe. Instead, it provides primary legislative information alongside clearly labeled positions from participating citizen organizations, allowing Oklahomans to evaluate issues for themselves. OLC partners are actively reviewing legislation and identifying bills they like, dislike, or believe require additional public scrutiny. These partners track legislators’ votes, revealing the chameleons and the statesmen alike, and ensuring your voice echoes directly in the halls of power.

Imagine a world where key votes cast by your state representatives are not just recorded, but analyzed, challenged, and shaped by the very people they serve—welcome to the frontline of voter-driven accountability.

Oklahoma is a red-state, with a majority of voters in each of the 77 counties voting for Donald Trump in three presidential elections. No other state in the Union has this record. The Oklahoma legislature should reflect our conservative values. Unfortunately, the vast majority of our Republican elected officials perpetuate large government, taxes, and pander to special interests with the deep-pockets. Orchestrated in secret caucus, the Oklahoma Republican leadership in both chambers manipulate and control the legislative agenda, dictating what is heard in committee, and voted for on the floor. Too often members of each chamber relinquish their independence capitulating to the leadership’s pressure and vote to perpetuate large government programs that infringe on your liberties and pocketbooks. This is not representative governance.  This is politics of old, making backroom deals in secret, controlling the agenda and silencing the voice of conservative legislators. These legislators are your voice and it is being silenced. If you are like me and many across the state, you deserve to know exactly how your elected officials are representing you. That’s where Oklahoma StateLens comes in – a comprehensive, voter-centric website dedicated to demystifying the Oklahoma State Legislature. The Republican Leadership may orchestrate backroom deals, but the voting records don’t lie.

What is Oklahoma Liberty Coalition?

Oklahoma Liberty Coalition is about twenty liberty groups who have decided to join forces to amplify your voice. It provides an online hub designed to bridge the gap between Oklahoma citizens and their state lawmakers.  Our coalition platform monitors key votes in the Oklahoma House and Senate, providing detailed insights into legislative actions that affect everything from your child’s education, healthcare choices, taxation, corporate welfare to the new Green Deal scam. But we go beyond mere observation; we tally votes, inform you, and ensure the site evolves based on direct input from users like you. This provides transparency to you, the voter.

Administered collaboratively by a coalition of about twenty liberty-focused civic groups – including organizations concentrating on Constitutional governance, empowering parents, small government, minimal taxation, property rights, returning authority to parents and local school boards in education.   Our coalition draws on diverse expertise and experience in citizen advocacy. These watchdog groups pooled their resources and talents to create a tool that’s truly by the people, for the people.

Key Features: Tools for Informed Engagement

At the heart of the www.Oklahoma.statelens.org website is our commitment to making state politics accessible and actionable. Oklahoma StateLens is a one stop shop for bill review, committee proceedings and legislators voting record.

 Here’s how we do it:

1. Full Access to Legislative Bills

No more sifting through dense government websites. We provide search ability for every bill, allowing you to search by legislator, bill or issue. Research bills before committee hearings or before the floor vote to give legislators your guidance. Or, if you’re interested in how your elected officials voted on a recent education bill, a quick search reveals their vote and if our partners liked or disliked this legislation and why. This feature empowers everyday Oklahomans to understand the legislation shaping their lives without needing a law degree.

To add context, legislators receive a ranking based on their vote and how it aligns with our partners, helping you see at a glance whether your lawmaker aligns with your values. Unlike opaque official records, our scorecards highlight patterns – such as a senator’s consistent support for profamily policies or if a representative continues to propagate large government and bureaucracy.

3. Live Streaming of Committee Meetings

Transparency doesn’t stop at votes – it starts in the committees where bills are shaped. What has been an endless search on the Oklahoma.gov website, we simplify with one click viewing. Oklahoma State Lens streams live video and audio of all public committee meetings in the Oklahoma State Legislature, from budget discussions in the Appropriations Committee to policy debates in Education or Health Services. This real-time access ensures that even if you can’t make it to the Capitol in Oklahoma City, you’re virtually in the room. We provide a daily agenda for each committee meeting so you can review what peaks your passions.

4. Advocacy Tools and Voter Responsiveness

OKStateLens isn’t just informative; it’s interactive. Future features will equip you with one touch tabs for contacting legislators and petition tools for rallying support on hot-button issues. Many of our users communicate with their legislators while voting is occurring, providing them with talking points for debate.

Why Oklahoma State Lens Matters for Oklahomans

In a state as vibrant and varied as Oklahoma – from the urban energy of OKC/Tulsa to the rural heartlands – informed citizenship is key to maintaining our quality of life. Too often, legislative decisions happen behind closed doors, leaving voters feeling disconnected. OKStateLens changes that by fostering accountability. By shining a light on votes and processes, we encourage legislators to act in the public’s interest, knowing their actions are under scrutiny.
