PRESS RELEASE

June 29, 2024 OKGOP State Committee Meeting

OKLAHOMA CITY- The State Committee of the Oklahoma Republican Party, the Supreme Authority of the OKGOP, met today to consider the removal of OKGOP Chairman Dahm. The defined objective of the Party to perpetuate the republic has been hindered by the actions of the current chairman of the party.

Per OKGOP State Party Rules, the meeting notice was presented to Nathan Dahm by 25% of the committee with written signatures gathered from the members of 35 of Oklahoma’s 77 counties. Causes for removal can be found HERE.

After receiving the notice, Chairman Dahm called a separate meeting, co-opting the time, date, and location (which had been booked by the members) for a meeting that contained a separate agenda.

At 1:30pm on Saturday, over 150 members sat ready to begin proceedings. Chairman Dahm’s credentials team completed their credentialing process at 3:18pm which significantly delayed the start of the meeting. The delays continued throughout the meeting called by Chairman Dahm and ultimately it ended by a 99-67 vote of the members declaring it an illegitimately called meeting.

Following the adjournment of this meeting, the original meeting called by 25% of the state committee body convened with 121 members. These members, frustrated by the Chairman’s continual disregard for the direction of the committee, willingly endured the multiple meeting delays and even a broken AC on this hot June day. The purpose of this meeting was to present the resolution for removal, to allow the OKGOP Chairman opportunity to present evidence, witnesses, and to be heard personally and by counsel. The chairman did not attend this meeting, giving up his opportunity to defend against these proposed causes for removal.

The 121 members stayed to do the business of the party and to represent the voters of their counties. A vote for removal has a much higher threshold than other actions of the party, and a successful vote requires a majority of the entire existing membership. There are currently 305 members of the OKGOP State Committee. Not all of these positions have been filled in every county. If all positions were filled, there would be 328 members of this committee.

The resolution for removal was debated, and finally tabled (postponed to a future date).
