I grew up in Texas and that is where I learned about the war within the Republican Party over what we the people stand for vs what some of our leadership does (RINOs). This is not a new battle! Thankfully, I had great mentors – real movement conservatives, grassroots to the core. You wouldn’t recognize most of the names, but Ron Paul was at the top of the list and I was involved in his early congressional battles as I lived in his district in my younger years.
In the 1990s, we were working on a party rule change to have candidates sign off on the platform in order to get party funding and support. You would think that would be a no brainer but you would be very wrong. In fact you would be amazed at the names of some of the people who fought us in that battle. Here was our sticker from a state convention where we were pressing in on the matter. It did not pass that year, but ultimately some variation of it did!

In Oklahoma, OKGrassroots has picked up the battle and our team here has published scorecards rated against the platform since 2023. Our 2025 ratings will be out soon.

Recently one of my favorite former state representatives, Jason Murphey, published an in depth voting analysis for Oklahoma representatives in his substack – The Oklahoma State Capital. I highly recommend you subscribe to his substack for the best in political history, theater, and analysis. You will be both educated and entertained, and hopefully get a vision for how we get out of this mess! Subscribers get the information first.
“A few weeks ago, The Oklahoma State Capital released its flagship product: The People’s Audit, which you can find here.”

“The report reviews 93 of the worst votes cast by the Oklahoma House of Representatives during the 2025 legislative session.
The findings were deeply indicting. The vast majority of House members were implicated—suggesting to the reader that nearly all of them need to be replaced by new, modern-minded representatives willing to dismantle the model of centralized power and help usher in an open, transparent state government more befitting of the 21st century. Instead, Oklahoma remains governed by a regressive, corrupt 20th-century system that still bears the unmistakable fingerprints of one-party, Democrat-era control, only now, it’s with Republican branding.
The report has been well received, and it is proving to be a vital tool in the effort to return the House of the People to the people.”

Later in the article he mentions the work we do here on OKGrassroots.
“You see, The People’s Audit is following a trail that was blazed two years ago by a dedicated group of volunteers at OKGrassroots.com through their Republican Platform Scorecard. It is available here.”
Special thanks to Former Representative Jason Murphey for all of his support through the years and the depth of his understanding of the political arena which he so articulately conveys to those who have an ear to hear!
