Last year, Larry Murray became the County Chairman of the Washington County Republican Party.
Larry is a principled defender of liberty. I first met him defending medical freedom at the State Capitol. Larry eventually retired from the military instead of compromising those values. He understands the Constitution and what made this nation great. As he guides our county party, he has led with a firm grounding in those principles.
But to me, the thing that makes Larry stand apart is his belief and practice to engage the county committee – the precinct officers, as those who direct our party.
Prior to his election, the WCGOP County Committee had not met, even once, in recent memory. The county party was a top-down organization, with little to no involvement from the precincts.
Within his first month as chairman, he held a county committee meeting, and he’s held one every quarter since then.
Our county committee is filled with moms, dads, college students, grandparents, and everyone in between. Larry has encouraged precinct officers to bring ideas, speakers, meeting topics, help run our meetings, and be an active part of our party.
This Spring, our city council put changes on the ballot that would have tremendously limited the voice of the people in our city government. Our County Convention passed a resolution condemning these actions. Larry sent out emails encouraging Republicans to vote against the changes, and promoting a door knocking effort. On Election Day, the people defeated the changes! This is the impact of a precinct-led, principled county party.
Larry’s principles to advance freedom and Republican values have made an impact in our county. Our county party is growing and engaged.
I wholeheartedly endorse Larry Murray for National Committeeman. His dedication to advancing Republican principles to leave a freer country for our children has transformed the Washington County Republican Party and I know that his leadership will do the same on the National Committee.
