So far, the debate over the proposed Islamic center near Ground Zero has unfolded along predictable lines, but meanwhile, links between the group behind the controversial mosque, the CIA and U.S. military establishment have gone unacknowledged.

As someone with a good deal of education in scientific thinking and the scientific method, I have put considerable effort into attempting to find any real scientific evidence backing the widespread use of influenza vaccines (flu season shots). I find examples of junk science in both the “scientific” side of things as well as the “alternative” side of things. For example, so-called “psychic surgery,” as least in the way it has been popularized, is nothing more than clever sleight-of-hand where the surgeon palms some chicken gizzards and then pretends to pull diseased organs out of the abdominal cavity of some patient. The demonstrations I’ve seen on film are obvious quackery.

There was a time when the pen was mightier than the sword. That was a time when people believed in truth and regarded truth as an independent power and not as an auxiliary for government, class, race, ideological, personal, or financial interest. Today Americans are ruled by propaganda. Americans have little regard for truth, little access to it, and little ability to recognize it.
Glenn Beck’s big rally at the Lincoln Memorial a couple days ago is the talk of the news media and the internet. Liberals are denouncing it, conservatives are walking on air, while tens of millions of people are completely mystified. And with good reason — if Seinfeld was a show about nothing, this massive gathering was a rally about nothing. And while it may have looked impressive, in reality it shows just how impotent and adrift the mainstream conservative movement has become.
The TeaParty originally began in 2008 by the Presidential Candidate Ronald Paul of Texas. His supporter, crafty and creative decided to perform a mock Tea Party by throwing boxes over the side of a ship. The boxes represented the Federal Reserve System, Foreign Wars Abroad etc. Soon after that the Ron Paul Revolution marched on Washington D.C. Naturally the news outlets did not cover the event. But for the supporters of Ron Paul, seeing the thousands of marchers on D.C. proudly waving the flags of freedom and liberty was a grand moment in time.
The Koch brothers and Rupert Murdoch have self-interested and at times radical agendas that go well beyond, and sometimes counter to, the interests of those who serve as spear carriers in the political pageants hawked on Fox News.
Schools are increasingly invading student privacy both in school and outside of school. Are schools grooming youth to passively accept a surveillance state where they have no expectation of privacy anywhere?
