It rests on principles he has already put in writing for every voter to examine. His answer pointed to something different—an identity and a set of principles he had already committed to paper long before he ever filed to run. For Taylor, the book wasn’t a prop. It was a declaration: his beliefs, his framework, and his accountability were already public.

This race can be summed up in the question “Who owns the children?”
If you think the state owns your child then you would probably prefer Franklin, but if you believe your child is a gift from God, entrusted to you, then you would much prefer Taylor.
