Removing an Officer of the OKGOP

Removing an Officer of the OKGOP

The Chairman demonstrated his unwillingness to follow the OKGOP Rules by failing to respond to the call requested by the 83 members, and instead calling his own meeting, without offering the Vice Chairman the opportunity to join that call. The Chairman’s attempt to obstruct consideration of his removal is a bold outright challenge and defiance of the authority of the State Committee.

An Open Letter to Nathan Dahm

Why is it that so many of the Republican ideals of government are being ignored under your administration? You were elected because the people thought that you stood for those ideals in the Senate and would stand for them in the party, not become the “senate leadership” that you rightly call out. We at the county level are accountable to our counties.  You, as our chairman, are supposed to follow and carry out our directions.

Reasons for Voting to Remove Nathan Dahm as State GOP Chair

By Karen Hardin

For some, the news of 83 members of the State Committee calling for Chairman Nathan Dahm to resign as OK GOP Chair, came as a shock. To others, who knew more of what was happening behind the scenes, it was met with a sigh of relief. Either way, it is important that the members of the Republican party understand at least some of the issues that have taken place since his election in May 2023.

In Support of Ryan Walters on SB1122 — two sections in need of a Veto by the Governor

By Charity Linch – Republican National Committeewoman of Oklahoma

In the last week, a concerning piece of legislation has landed on the desk of Governor Stitt, threatening to undermine the very principles of transparency and accountability that form the foundation of our Republic. SB1122, if signed into law, would restrict the Superintendent and the State Department of Education from utilizing state funds for what Democrats in the Legislature deem as “public relations” and “promotional” purposes.

Navigating Republican Party Primaries With a Free Market Mindset

By Andrew Hayes

One thing that should unite all conservatives is that we are all advocates and supporters of the free market. For real conservatives, it ia a given that there is nothing that the state can do better than the free market, war being the single exception – given that war is nothing more than death and destruction on a grand scale. While there may be some difficulties, it is a given that the DMV would operate much more smoothly if it was done by Wal-Mart.  In either case, the point is that we all appreciate the way the market works and should strive for free market solutions at every turn.

Russell Ray for Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner

“As Oklahomans struggle to pay skyrocketing costs for food, shelter and healthcare, many questions surrounding the fairness of energy costs being passed on to consumers have been raised,” Ray said. “Rate- and- fuel-cost cases are complicated and require a lot of expert vetting and scrutiny. I have the background and knowledge to strike the right balance between consumer concerns and business concerns.”

Living in the Light of Memorial Day

Living in the Light of Memorial Day

The memory of a nation matters. It matters for its life, it’s flourishing, and it’s survival. The enemies of America know this and have worked hard to erase our memory and rewrite our story. American’s seem unsure of where we came from as a nation. But every day Memorial Day is a small chance to remember that the freedoms we enjoy were paid for by the lives of courageous men and women. But more than that, it’s a reminder that freedom can and will be lost if we forget its price.

A Grassroots Analysis of Runoff Voting Systems

By Andrew Hayes

I am a strong proponent of majority vote to win systems, and 100% against plurality voting.

First a couple of definitions:

Plurality Voting: In a race with 3 or more candidates the candidate who gets the most votes wins, even if he doesn’t have a majority of the vote. Example : George 35 Thomas 33 John 31.   In plurality voting, George would be declared the winner.

Majority Voting: A candidate must receive 50%+1 of the votes in order to win. So the above example would require some sort of runoff system between George and Thomas.

At one time Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) and Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) were synonymous, But what Alaska did is a completely different thing than anything I ever imagined IRV turning into. Therefore I refer to the Alaska system as RCV and the simple Instant runoff voting as the same, or IRV . But let’s begin first with some history.
