By Lynelle Medley, McIntosh County Chair

McIntosh County’s November meeting on the 21st was a smashing success with over 120 people present from approximately ten different counties from two states.  Lots of chili was eaten and the McIntosh GOP successfully launched the Freedom Brigades which is a non-partisan citizen led effort to keep local government accountable.  The Freedom Brigades (FB) have begun two initiatives to address the Turbine issue, one of which is an Environmental Impact Study project led by Mr. Derek Liles. FB are also in the planning stages for at least one rally at the capitol with multiple speakers to call on Governor Stitt to issue an Executive Order to stop the wind turbines.

Representative Neil Hays continues to voice his whole-hearted support and has been consistently making phone calls and seeking ways in which he can better assist the community in stopping the wind turbines.  Featured speakers Saundra Traywick of Lincoln County and John Spence of Craig County shared many insights which will be helpful moving forward.  Dawn Stacy had the citizens Initiative Petition on hand to collect more signatures calling for a moratorium against the wind turbines within the county and both Pittsburg and McIntosh County have maps available in which people can mark their properties in red as a pledge to not allow the wind turbines access to their land.

Josh Hildebrand, Congressman Josh Brecheen’s field rep for our area, was also on hand to report back as to the results of the meeting.  It was reported to us that Congressman Brecheen is paying attention to what is occurring and will assist in any way he can.

Bryan Logan, of Paden, Oklahoma was introduced as a Senate District 8 candidate who is completely in support of the people battling the wind turbines.

News on 6’s Kaitlyn Deggs was on hand to film a segment which aired on that evening’s news.
