It would seem to be a no brainer, that your representatives assigned to various committees would actually consider the bills brought before them. However, ask any activist involved for more than one cycle if you want to hear the war stories!
The House officially convenes on Monday, February 6, and their first order of business will be to adopt the rules which will govern how they operate for the session. On that day, a representative will propose the adoption of the “Open Government Rule,” which states, “A bill shall be heard and receive a vote in committee if the primary author requests it in writing; and a bill, having passed committee, shall be heard and receive a vote on the House floor if the primary author requests it in writing.”
Former State Representative Charles Key today issued an official endorsement for Senator Rand Paul for President 2016 saying,
Our political system is broken and can only be fixed by someone who understands our political system. I am voting for Rand Paul for President because he is the only candidate who understands and is committed to our Constitutional Republican form of government. He has refused to compromise or pander to special interest groups or the media to get their support. Isn’t that what most Americans want? We don’t need someone who talks tough and pushes emotional hot buttons. We need someone who has proven he is tough by staying consistent and fighting for our God given rights. Rand Paul is the one who has shown he has the commitment and integrity to correct the problems we face. Please join me in making Rand Oklahoma’s choice for President.
Let’s light up the phones for some more support for Rand Paul’s bill to Audit the Fed. It just makes sense now doesn’t it?!
#standwithRand #AudittheFed so we can #EndtheFed soon!
By Corey Perry:
I am a Republican because of my conservative values both socially and fiscally, there’s no in-between for me!
I would like to address ONE seeming misconception about the “party” I am a member of, the Republican Party. Over time and most recently with the announcement of my political endeavors, I have been presented with the question “how are you Republican and a black man, given the history of the party as it pertains to blacks in America?” Let me say this, I am a Republican because of my conservative values both socially and fiscally, there’s no in-between for me! The Republican party isn’t perfect, because it is a party made up of imperfect people, yet it is a party that strives to do good works that the PEOPLE believe is best for this country. I believe that other parties in this country believe and strive for the same, we just may be on different sides of an issue(s), it’s really that simple. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said in The Theologians Tale;… “Do thy duty; that is best; Leave unto The LORD the rest.
The Oklahoma Republican Party has the opportunity and the responsibility to be the leader this nation needs at this moment in time.
It is evident by watching our current candidates for president that We the People are tired o the lip service and show votes by those who claim to be Republicans. Our party platform is extremely clear, and yet some have changed it for self-promotion into two words – “situation ethics.”
As I have traveled the state, it is easy to see that the OKGOP is full of hard-working, dedicated people who want to make a difference. Our work for 2016 is to elect men and women who will set a high standard of integrity congruent with the party ideals. If the Republican Party fails to represent the values of the Republican voters, then we have failed.
All of us, working together, will continue to make a difference!
